While the router manufacturers worldwide continue to try to revolutionize and routers are designed by the addition of crazy colors , changing the location of the antenna , or do anything that looks like something straight out of a military hangar in the future , and its new Linksys router WRT3200ACM go exactly in the opposite direction, and the choice is paying in spades.

Relying heavily on the nostalgia factor, WRT3200ACM brings all the things we liked the WRT54G original and updated for the 21st century. If all this sounds vaguely familiar, you might remember – be gushed us on the same design choice when the first WRT1900ACS came out earlier this year , and WRT3200ACM improves this even further with a serrated LED panel in front blue -black on classic frame and a still somewhat lighter footprint at 1.76lbs (1.77lbs compared to the WRT1900ACS).
This is not a router designed for people who want something that will blend in with their surroundings, however. It is the quintessential, unapologetically router is a router lover … and we agree with that.
Linksys WRT3200ACM has a beefy 1.8 GHz dual-core processor, tri-band wireless AC3200, 802.11ac / n / a antenna 2.4GHz / 5GHz with beamforming capacity MU-MIMO, four high power antennas, five gigabit Ethernet ports (4 LAN, 1 Internet), USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 / eSATA to set up an external memory or add onboard media servers.
What can we say about the table intelligent edge wireless Linksys that we have not said a dozen times before?
Linksys continues to update the Smart Wi-Fi system here and there with a few minor tweaks to mobile and desktop platform, but overall it is already as good as it needs to be through intuitive user interface, the super simple setup and easy access to all owner configuration settings amateur router or expert would need.

Distance and Speed Tests
Despite its AC3200 rating, the Linksys WRT3200ACM yet managed to pump even, consistent performance which undergoes a slight decrease at a distance of 30 feet or more. On the 2.4 GHz to 5 feet, we recorded a par-for-the-course score 73.26Mbps down / 102.65Mbps up, which is the fastest speed we’ve seen, but it is also absolutely not the slowest either.
Unfortunately, WRT3200ACM does not really take all that much once we jumped at a distance of 30 feet, with 48.68Mbps down and 43.52Mbps up. Fortunately, it was quickly (no pun intended) bought by its 5GHz performance with a score of 449.84Mbps down / 475.24Mbps from a distance of five feet and 311.96Mbps down / up to 276.98Mbps a distance of 30 feet.
The Linksys WRT3200ACM takes many of the same concepts and features that we liked originally in WRT1900ACS and slightly improves performance in all areas. In this spirit, there is not much left for you to turn heads (and take out your wallet) if you do not have the MU-MIMO-ready or connection devices that just pump 120Mbps or less .
If you’re itching for a new router, to $ 249.99 on WRT3200ACM can be a bit pricey for some, but it is also fast and pretty enough to justify the high cost level.
