Sleep is something we all need, but more and more we do not have enough. Whether it’s too much work, too much coffee, too many social commitments, or, you know, something medically wrong with you, we do not sleep as long as we need it. Needless to say, technology can come to the rescue on it, in the form of Samsung’s Housing Capacity.
As you probably understand, this is a phone accessory; you put the sensor under your mattress, you couple with your phone and you hit the bag. During your sleep, it detects your movement, your heart rate and breathing, your time in the different phases of sleep and the number of times you are out of bed. He compiles all this into a “sleep score”, which looks like something that would keep you up at night.
Anyway, as you collect data, you can take it to a doctor or use the app to guide you through better sleep patterns, such as not snacking at 20:00 or others, more annoying advice on diet, nutrition and exercise. Samsung prefers you to use their advice, which seems just a bit suspicious, but at least they had a doctor involved.
In truth, the modeling of physical fitness is too often treated like a silver bullet; If you have a real sleep problem, you will probably need to visit a professional about it. But if you are obsessed with collecting all the bits of data on your health, and you want your sleep note to keep you up at night, this will be a good option for that.
